Dal Kichadi | North Indian Style | Healthy Masala Vegetable Khichdi |

Rice: 2 cups
Moong Dal: 1 cup
Bay Leaf: 3
Ginger: 1 TBSP chopped
Garlic: 1 TBSP chopped
Curry leaves: 2 springs
Green chillies: 4
Red Chili Powder: 1 tsp
Turmeric powder: 1 tsp
Cumin: 1 tsp
Tomatoes: 3 chopped
Ghee: 2 TBSP
Coriander leaves

1. Take Rice: 2 cups and Moong Dal: 1 cup soaked for 2 hours
2. Add enough water
3. Add turmeric powder: 1 tsp
4. Add red chili powder: ½ tsp
5. Salt to taste
6. Add Green chili: 4
7. Add enough water and cook well
8. Add hot water, if it is too thick
9. Mix well
10. Heat 2 TBSP of ghee
11. Add 2 or 3 bay leaves
12. Splutter cumin seeds (1 tsp) wait till it turns brown
13. Add curry leaves
14. Add chopped ginger and garlic (1 TBSP each)
15. Sauté till garlic turns brownish
16. Add tomatoes (3, chopped)
17. Add Red Chili Powder: ½ tsp
18. Cook till tomatoes are cooked well
19. Add a portion of kichadi to the pan, mix well
20. Add entire content back to the kichadi
21. Mix well
22. Add coriander leaves and mix well
23. Serve, place some ghee on top
